Un cadeau de Banksy refusé

Sur son blog, Remarkable a récemment consacré un billet à une action remarquable de Banksy. Début juin l'artiste britannique a annoncé sur son site  la sortie d'une nouvelle oeuvre imprimée le 9 juin c'est à dire un jour après les élections britanniques. Dans cette oeuvre exclusive , une nouvelle version de l'iconique jeune fille au ballon, les couleurs de l'"Union Jack" remplacent le rouge. Cette impression devait être offerte aux électeurs en échangent de leur vote contre le Parti Conservateur. Immédiatement après cette annonce, des débats sont nés et ont été jusqu'à faire annuler le tirage ! En effet, une enquête policière a jugé cette action illégale : "c'est une offense criminelle au Representation of People Act 1983".

“Product Recall: I have been warned by the Electoral Commission that the free print offer will invalidate the election result. So I regret to announce this ill-conceived and legally dubious promotion has now been cancelled.” Peut-on lire sur le site de l'artiste. 

La police locale en effet a statué : “it is a criminal offense under the Representation of People Act 1983 for any voter to accept or agree to accept a gift or similar in return for voting or refraining from voting. Any person participating in an offer to receive a gift is at risk of being prosecuted.”

Banksy avait également émis l'idée de prendre son bulletin de vote en photo. Un acte encore une fois pas très légal... 

La Commission Electorale a émis le conseil suivant : “Given the risk that someone taking a photo inside a polling station may be in breach of the law, whether intentionally or not, the commission’s advice is against taking any photos inside polling stations.”
